Clinical Audiology

The Clinical Audiology Working Group aims to enhance patient care, streamline clinical practices, and foster collaborative research in the field of audiology within the members of the European Federation of Audiology Societies. The group will focus on improving the standards diagnostic procedures, treatment methods, and overall patient outcomes for individuals with hearing and balance disorders.

Scope of Work:

The working group operates across clinical, academic, and research domains, bringing together audiologists, ENT specialists, researchers, engineers and other relevant healthcare professionals, as well as give an opportunity to communicate with hearing technology companies. Key areas of focus include:

  • Clinical Practice Guidelines: Identifying, discussing and standardizing protocols for hearing assessments, hearing aid fittings, cochlear implants, and vestibular function testing within the EFAS members.
  • Collaborative Research: Facilitating multicenter research studies on emerging treatments and technologies in audiology, tele-audiology, and electrophysiological testing.
  • Training and Education: Providing ideas on continuous education and professional development opportunities for audiologists, including workshops, seminars, and online courses. Topics will range from new diagnostic tools to patient communication strategies.
  • Patient-Centered Care: Implementing patient feedback mechanisms and designing care models that prioritize patient engagement and satisfaction. This may include the integration of telehealth solutions to improve access to care.
